I am beyond thrilled to introduce Style Squad Class of 2019 Senior Model Anika Kukich!
Anika attends Norwin High School and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know her over the past few months. Anika and I have done three sessions together - a completely styled session with hair, makeup & wardrobe (all selected by yours truly) at Carrie Furnace, a Summer Senior session at Mellon Park and a Fall Senior session at Indian Lake Park. Anika never ceases to amaze me with her ability to relax in front of the camera, her fashion sense, and her willingness to do anything I ask during a shoot - even when it feels awkward, she just trusts me. Basically, Anika just “gets it”!
We have had quite an adventure together so far! The original location Anika wanted for her Summer session was destroyed literally hours before her session, which left us scrambling to find an alternate location (we did, and I think it was an even better location than the original one). Additionally, our session dates alternated between rescheduling due to rain and crazy hot unseasonal temps (apparently Mother Nature and I need to have a sit-down). We have had our fair share of challenges but I say “everything happens for a reason” and I know that we got better weather, and a better location for our troubles! Anika and her Mom, Lorie, were super flexible throughout, which helped me to stress just a little less;)
I really felt for Anika during our Indian Lake session. Despite taking place on a day in early October, it was H.O.T. the day of her session with temps into the 90s. Anika arrived dressed for Fall in a gorgeous long sleeve sweater and she had to be roasting in it. She never let on though and never missed a beat! I had Gatorade, water and granola bars on hand just in case we needed to recharge.
When not melting away in the heat in front of my camera, Anika competes with Alison Biondi’s Gymnastics Team and the Norwin High School Gymnastics Team. She couldn’t wait for this year’s competition season to begin because she had to sit out last year’s season due to a broken ankle. Anika says her favorite apparatus is the Balance Beam, even though that is the apparatus she was performing on when she broke her ankle.
Anika is also a member of Norwin High School’s Student Council and is a National Honor Society inductee. She’s a Norwin Knights fan and tries to attend as many football games as her schedule allows. Mom Lorie also has a Friday night ritual - Pie with the Moms! Sounds like a great Friday night tradition to me and one I can TOTALLY get on board with:)
Anika plans to pursue Nursing in college. She hasn’t made the final decision on where to go just yet, however, as of this post, it’s looking like Anika will be attending Robert Morris University - home of the Colonials and her Mom Lorie’s alma mater. I know whichever college she chooses will be lucky to have her! In the Spring, we’re going to have a fun session there too - maybe we can even get the college mascot to join in the fun!
You can check out the images from Anika’s sessions HERE. If you’re a Junior and see her around the halls at Norwin or around town, make sure to ask her how you can be a part of Stacey Lyn Boutique Photography’s Style Squad Class of 2020! We plan to start accepting applications in January, and I have some really cool things in the works for next year’s Squad!
